Who doesn't love the combination of bananas and nutella, I remember having nutalla, banana sandwiches in high school and it being absolutely delicious. This Banana Cake with Nutella Frosting is so good, it's dangerous. The cake is soft and fluffy, and the frosting is so addicting. There is a reason I only make this during this time of year! Try this recipe out at your next holiday get together!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, with a whisk (or you can use a stand mixer), cream the butter and sugar for the banana cake. Add the egg and make sure everything is well incorporated. The mixture should be smooth and pale yellow.
Add the mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt to the mixture. Whisk until everything is mixed together.
Slowly add the dry ingredients you sifted in the beginning with your wet ingredients. Mix together until you no long see any dry flour in your batter.
Pour cake batter into a 9x13 baking pan that is spray with some nonstick spray. Drop tablespoons of nutella in random places of the cake batter (should total to about 1/2 cup). Take a butter knife and swirl the nutella into the cake batter. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
While your cake is baking/cooling, make the nutella frosting, by mixing the nutella and butter with a hand mixer (or by hand). Slowly add the powdered sugar until the mixture is clumpy and dry.
Slowly add the milk (a tbsp at a time) to the mixture until it resembles frosting (i used about 3 tbsps).
Once your cake has cooled completely, frost your cake with the nutella frosting. Add sprinkles to make the cake extra festive and enjoy!
